Things got worse – you are in front of PSR (Professional Services Review). What to do and what not to do.
Most important is not to progress to a full Panel Review. In other words, agree and negotiate with the Director of Professional Services Review. Do not let the situation escalate to the Panel Review. That would mean that all of your services will be reviewed one by one over many many weeks.
You can argue your case with the Director. Last time I witnessed that, I was pleased with how well informed and understanding the Director was. (Prof Julie Quinlivan) There is no point in coming up with the ‘primary school type of excuses’. They want to see that you understand what went wrong, what you do to prevent that from happening in the future. In other words, demonstrate the insight. With the slight suspicion that the insight is not present, the doctor under investigation is risking his / her registration.
