Exciting Opportunity for General Practitioners
We offer a unique Fly-in Fly-out (FIFO) arrangement for General Practitioners (GPs) residing in or near Melbourne or Canberra. We are looking to add 2-4 GPs to our team to provide consultations at an MM5 location. This role presents a special opportunity to scale your moratorium while serving the rural and Aboriginal community in the beautiful Gippsland region of Victoria. If you’re seeking a meaningful and rewarding experience, this could be the perfect fit for you. The roster can be tailored to your availability, allowing you to choose the number of weeks you wish to be onsite.

About the Organisation
The Moogji Aboriginal Council was established in 1989, merging the Aboriginal Women and Children’s Group with the Moogji Aboriginal Cooperative. Our mission is to develop health-related programs and preserve cultural heritage. We aim to support community members in achieving optimal health and well-being, strengthening cultural and community connections, and reaching employment and economic development goals. Our services and programs are delivered in a culturally safe environment, facilitating employment and training opportunities, supporting community leadership, and advocating for community needs and aspirations.
About the Work
As a general practitioner, you will be supported by a team that includes a Practice Nurse, Aboriginal Health Practitioners, a Support Team, a Practice Manager, and a consulting Project Manager. The focus of the team is Chronic Disease Management.
About the Clinic
Our newly renovated clinic will open on September 30, 2024. Our team has undergone extensive training to implement new systems and procedures.
How to Reduce Your Moratorium
If you are under a moratorium, working with us can help you reduce the time required in a DPA or DWS location. You can reduce your moratorium by up to 3 years without needing to work full-time. For more information, visit Moratorium Scaling.
Working Hours
- Hours: Open from 9 am to 5 pm each day.
- No Weekend or After Hours Work: Enjoy your weekends and evenings.

About the Area

- From Canberra: A 4.5-hour drive.
- From Melbourne Airport: Just under 5 hours by car.
- By Train: A 4-hour train ride from Melbourne, followed by a pick-up and a 1-hour drive to Orbost.
