Answer: There are no particular rules that forbid provision of Medicare and Workcover services on the same occasion.

GPs often provide a number of services for different body systems for the same person on the same occasion if necessary.

If that is the case, GP may submit one invoice to Workcover and another one to Medicare. The Workcover invoice should reflect the complexity of service and the time spent. e.g. 23 or 36.

For services unrelated to Workcover case, GP should bill appropriate Medicare item.

It is advisable to have separate clinical notes for WC amd MC cases for the same patient.
