Answer: There are no particular rules that forbid provision of Medicare and Workcover services on the same occasion.

GPs often provide a number of services for different body systems for the same person on the same occasion.

If that is the case, GP may submit one invoice to Workcover and another to Medicare. The Workcover invoice should reflect the complexity of service and the time spent. e.g. 23 or 36.

For services unrelated to Workcover case, GP should bill appropriate Medicare item.

It is advisable to have separate clinical notes for WC and MC cases for the same patient.
